LOL Racism

So.  I ran across some hilarious fucking racism about our neighborhood today.  I subscribe to this website where people can go and talk about their neighborhoods and what is going on.  You can also post happenings, ask questions, etc.  A couple of days ago, someone posted this (I have screenshots, but I won't post them just yet):

will we be welcome?

thinking of holding a Saturday morning event at Blackstone library - mostly white folks. Will we be welcome or like marshmallows on hot chocolate?

Yes.  It said exactly that.  I was like, "WTF?"  Since that came in my email, I clicked on the link to read the rest of the comments that people left.  A lot of people were incredulous, some called it as they saw it (stupid), and some just tried to be helpful.  The person in question left another post to (I guess) clarify things:

As a former resident of Uptown I am very concerned about personal safety on the streets. So what I really am asking is whether this area around the library is safe for everyone or only for some, or not really safe for most people. Event would be a paper&pencil test for membership in Mensa; people coming from anywhere within Chicago but most not familiar with the area and most taking CTA..

Okay.  That helped.  NOT.  As someone aptly pointed out, if she were really affiliated with MENSA, she should have been able to express herself better than that.

I honestly am still just dumbfounded by this person's fuckery.  "Marshmallows on hot chocolate?"  Fucking really?  Yes, privileged white person, there are Blacks in this neighborhood.  And you know what?  They're all (for the most part) decent folk.  The same thing can be said for EVERY OTHER FUCKING RACE AND ETHNICITY that lives here.  It is like every other goddamned neighborhood, including Uptown.

I feel like forwarding this to the Blackstone Library so they can tell this person to go pound sand.

Damn, people suck.
